NAVAKHOLO DISABLED WOMEN COMMUNITY SENSITISED ON EARLY CANCER SCREENING.
The County Government of Kakamega, through the Department of Health Services in partnership with PATH Nuru ya Mtoto, today conducted a capacity-building initiative aimed at sensitizing the disabled women community on the importance of cancer screening and treatment in Navakholo Sub-county.
Representing Governor Fernandes Barasa, County Disability Mainstreaming Coordinator, Mrs. Faith Awour emphasized that early screening and timely treatment of cervical cancer among persons with disabilities is critical in controlling the disease and improving health outcomes.
The training focused on creating awareness on cervical cancer prevention, promotion of family planning uptake, and safe childbirth management practices among women with disabilities.
Participants were also empowered with knowledge on available support systems, including access to screening services and referral pathways within county health facilities to ensure timely and appropriate care.
