KAKAMEGA CONTINUES TO SHINE AS THE CATHEDRAL OF SPORTS
H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, OGW, has congratulated Kakamega High School’s Green Commandos and Archbishop Njenga Girls for emerging champions in the boys’ and girls’ football categories respectively at the Western Region KSSSA Games held at Masinde Muliro Stadium, Kanduyi, in Bungoma County.
Governor Barasa who graced the finals, alongside his host H.E. Ken Lusaka, also celebrated St. Mathias Mwitoti Girls and Malava Boys for winning the girls’ and boys’ volleyball titles, while commending Musingu’s Scorpions and Butere Girls’ Red Commandos for their outstanding performances that earned them places in the football finals.
The Governor said the achievements once again reaffirm Kakamega County’s status as the Cathedral of Sports and a powerhouse of sporting talent in Kenya. He noted that the County Government will continue investing in sports development to nurture young talent and provide opportunities for athletes to compete and excel at the regional, national, and international levels.
He congratulated all the players, coaches, teachers, parents, school administrators and all county education stakeholders for their commitment and discipline, wishing the teams success as they represent Kakamega County at the forthcoming national championships
