The organic fertiliser plant at Matawa in Mumias West Sub-County is now operational and producing high-quality organic fertiliser. Established through a partnership between the County Government of Kakamega and Regen Organics, the plant is transforming organic waste into valuable organic fertiliser, advancing sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation.
The project is part of H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa’s agenda to accelerate agro-industrialisation, create jobs, add value to local resources, and strengthen food security. Together with the Kakamega County Aggregation and Industrial Park in Likuyani, and the Lugari Maize Milling Plant, the Matawa Organic Fertiliser Plant demonstrates the County Government’s commitment to building a vibrant manufacturing sector, empowering farmers, promoting sustainable waste management, restoring soil health, and reducing dependence on chemical fertilisers.
