KAKAMEGA COUNTY PARTNERS WITH COVAW TO EMPOWER CAREGIVERS
The County Government of Kakamega has partnered with the Coalition on Violence Against Women (COVAW) and other stakeholders to strengthen childcare services and support caregivers. Today, CECM for Social Services, Sports, Youth, Gender, Culture and Library Services, CPA Jackline Masicha, graced a capacity-building programme for caregivers held in Kakamega town.
Speaking during the event, Ms. Masicha highlighted the important role caregivers play in raising children and supporting families. She noted that equipping caregivers with the necessary skills and knowledge would help improve the quality of care children receive and create safer environments for their growth and development. She also emphasised the importance of working with partners to address challenges affecting caregivers.
Ms. Masicha said the initiative supports H.E. Dr. Fernandes Barasa’s Social Development Agenda, which focuses on improving the welfare of vulnerable groups and strengthening community support systems. She noted that partnerships between the county government and organisations such as COVAW were important in expanding support for children, caregivers and families.
The event was also attended by the Chief Officer for Social Services, Gender and Culture, Ms. Christine Oside; Chief Officer for Education, Mr. Ambrose Makokha; and Chief Officer for Special Programmes, Mr. Henry Marende, alongside other partners and county officers.
