KAKAMEGA COUNTY CANCER CENTRE LAUNCHED AS PATIENTS RECEIVE FREE CANCER SCREENING

Kakamega County Deputy Governor H.E Prof. Philip Museve Kutima today launched the Kakamega County cancer centre at the County General Teaching and Referral hospital.

Cancer, now a killer disease in the country and beyond in the recent times, can now be screened from the facility. Initially patients were forced to travel long distances for the same.

H.E Prof. Kutima thanked all the partners for their efforts towards ensuring patients are screened within Kakamega.The launch of the centre was marked by a free screening of the breast and cervical cancer where patients from the entire county and beyond will receive free services for two days; today and tomorrow.

The Deputy Governor reminded patients and residents that the health sector receives the highest allocation of funds in the county as compared to other sectors. This he said, explains the county government’s commitment to provide better health care to the residents.

Present as well was the Chairperson County Public Service Board Chairperson Rodah Masaviru, County Assembly Health committe Chairman Hon. Lucas Radoli, Health services Chief Officer Dr. Brenda Makokha among others.

Later on H.E the Deputy Governor led residents in opening Khetias’ Supermarket which has spread its wings to Kakamega town. He welcomed the newest business kid on the block saying residents will now have a choice to choose from the various supermarket stores in town.
