MAKE USE OF TECHNOLOGY TO DELIVER ON GOVERNMENT MANDATE ~ DR SABANA

The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Finance, Planning, ICT, e-Government and Communication Dr Beatrice Sabana has challenged staff in her ministry to embrace electronic communication in enhancing efficiency at workplace especially during this Covid-19 era.

In her inaugural meeting with staff from the ICT, e-Government and Communication departments at the county chambers Wednesday morning, Dr Sabana said with the strict Government guidelines on public gatherings, ICT and Communication officers should leverage on technology to continue providing essential Government services to the residents through electronic platforms.

“We are an integral cross-cutting ministry that should provide communication solutions to various stakeholders including but not limited to conducting public participation on Government policies to our people,” she noted.

She said there is need to devolve ICT to the ward level so as to give residents a chance to participate in creation and implementation of Government agenda. “The scope and mandate of our ministry is well outlined and has to be achieved within the set timelines,” the CECM directed.

Dr Sabana thanked the staff for welcoming her enthusiastically and urged them to fastrack completion of key ministerial projects within agreed time frames. Some of the projects being implemented by the ministry are; the Enterprise Resource Planning system, Electronic Money Transfer (Cashless system), CCTV installation in government offices and within Kakamega town CBD and the Fleet Management system, among others.

In attendance were Chief Officer Mr Eugene Milimo, Strategy and Governance Advisor and ICT guru Mr Musa Ali Chibole, Director ICT & e-Government Mr Samuel Wetungu, ERP Manager Mr Phanuel Musasia, Administrator Mr Sakaya Shitsimi among other staff members.
