BE DEVELOPMENT AMBASSADORS FOR OUR COUNTY, GOVERNOR OPARANYA TELLS MEMBERS OF COMMUNITY AREA COUNCILS

Governor H.E Dr Wycliffe Oparanya has asked the newly appointed Community Area Councils members to spearhead his development agenda at the grassroots.

He urged the Council members to maintain high discipline and order in the County to protect the image of the County.

“You have been given mandate to serve in my Government. Part of your mandate is to supervise our projects and ensure they are of high standards and quality work is done to save us from wastage of public resources,” said Governor Oparanya.

Speaking at Shikokho in Ikolomani Sub County while opening training for chairperson of the Community Area Councils, the Governor tasked the members with ensuring education and health standards are adhered to.

He asked the officers to ensure water projects reach all parts of the County.

“We are decentralizing services to reach residents in their areas. I cannot be in all parts of the County that is why we have hired you to represent us at the grassroots,” he said.

The Councils will deal with key areas that are devolved including; health, education and governance, roads and infrastructure, water and environment, and agriculture, livestock and fisheries.

Deputy Governor Prof Philip Kutima noted that Governor Dr Oparanya is the top performing Governor who is focused to ensure services reach locals at the grassroots.

Madam Rodah Masaviru CECM for Public Service and County Administration said the process to recruit the officers was transparent and vigorous to ensure only qualified people were recruited.

Dr Collins Matemba CECM for Health, Deputy County Secretary Mr Joshua Kutekha, Chief Officers: Dr Dominic Muteshi (PSA) and Mr Palapala Muteshi (Environment) attended the function.

The Governor also graced a similar event at Malinya in Ikolomani Sub County.
