COUNTY DEVELOPS A SYSTEM TO MONITOR STATUS OF PROJECTS
Kakamega County has developed a system that will assist in tracking and providing real-time information on status of all Government projects and programmes to ensure quality implementation in accordance with the stipulated and agreed time frames.
The system will distinctly provide data of the planned programmes as well as the ongoing, completed, suspended, terminated or stalled projects in every Ministry, Municipality and Government agencies across the County.
The County Chief Officer for Service Delivery and Advisory Unit Dr. Phitalis Masakhwe who opened a five day intensive capacity building workshop for the respective ministerial Planning Officers Thursday morning said the dashboard platform will monitor projects and programmes in real time and provide the Government with an opportunity to gauge performance levels in all the sectors.
“Despite rolling this system much later than expected, as the Department charged with tracking the progress of County projects, we are determined to ensure this system lives up to our expectations,” Dr. Masakhwe assured.
The Chief Officer explained that his unit has embraced a participatory approach with the aim of developing capacity to the relevant officers across all the Ministries.
Chief Officer for Finance and Economic Planning CPA Amb. James Ochami on his part said the approach will be a game changer in service delivery in Kakamega County and called for integrity from the officers when compiling and submitting the required information on projects.
Amb. Ochami who is also the immediate former Chief Officer for SDU challenged the Planners that being the primary custodians of information, they should provide first hand data that will be utilized in decision making.
His counterpart at the ICT and e-Government docket Mr. Eugine Milimo noted that the new platform will be integrated with other existing systems to enhance service delivery.
The County is implementing the system with the assistance of lCT Business Solutions Company, Software Development and Business Solutions Limited.
In attendance were Deputy County Secretary Mr. Joshua Kutekha, Directors Mr Samwel Wetungu (ICT and e-Government), Mr Dan Borter (Ag. Director Planning), ERP Manager Mr Phanuel Musasia and Mr Allan Watoro the Kingsway’s Lead Software Developer, among other officers.
