COUNTY RECEIVES AUTOMOBILE SUPPORT FROM USAID

The County Government of Kakamega Wednesday received a donation of three landcruiser vehicles to support various programmes in the Ministry of Health Services.

The vehicles were a donation from USAID funded Afya Halisi, a five-year program closing shop in Kakamega has been strengthening the capacity of National, County and Sub-County systems to enhance the efficiency of existing health systems in Kakamega, Kisumu, Kitui and Migori Counties.

Speaking during the handover at Kenafya offices, Kakamega, the CECM for Health Services Dr. Collins Matemba thanked Afya Halisi for the donation saying it will go along way in enhancing service of programmes across the County especially in reproductive health.

“Now that our appeal to our partner has been accepted, l want to assure everyone that these vehicles will strictly serve the purpose they are intended for in the Department of Health Services,” Dr. Matemba said

The CECM appreciated Afya Halisi for their generosity that has also seen the organisation donate medical equipment currently in use at the County General Hospital. In addition, he noted, the partner has also renovated various facilities in Kakamega County.

Afya Halisi Chief of Party Dr. Solomon Orero said the two partners have closely worked together to enhance access of reproductive health services by women, children and adolescents adding that the vehicles are expected to support services that improve family planning, adolescent and child healthcare among other important health services.

Also in attendance were Ag. Chief Officer Health Services Mr. Phanuel Wemali and Director Medical Services Dr. John Otieno and Heads of Transport Eng. Ishmael Makanga and Eng. Michael Mukolwe among other Officers.
