GOVERNOR OPARANYA MAKES FINAL STATE OF COUNTY ADDRESS AT ASSEMBLY AS COUNTY CEO

Kakamega Governor H.E Dr. FCPA Wycliffe Oparanya Tuesday made his final State of the County address at the Kakamega County Assembly enumerating the gains realized by the County Government since inception of devolution, in 2013. The Governor has transformed the County by initiating development projects, greatly improving the living standards of Kakamega County residents.

Kakamega, Dr. Oparanya said, is one of the rural counties where residents have enjoyed the fruits of devolution; as he used the ocassion to appreciate his County residents for according him maximum support since he took over as the Governor.

“I celebrate the strides we have made together as a Government and implore on the incoming County leadership to build on the gains made to move Kakamega to greater heights,” the Governor advised.

The governor extended his warm gratitude to the County Assembly Leadership and Honourable Members for the support granted to the Executive wing of the Government saying it was key to his success and thanked County staff for providing a pillar for him to discharge his duties effectively. Through the cordial working relationship with the Assembly, the House managed to pass 50 Executive sponsored Bills and 20 legislations that enabled the Government perform its duties and responsibilities.

The Governor revealed that the County recorded an increase in own source revenue collection from Ksh 239 million in 2013 to Ksh 1.2 billion in 2021. Establishment of Kakamega County Revenue Agency has helped in increasing County’s revenue collection.
