CECM FOR WATER INSPECTS THE PROGRESS OF WATER PROJECTS IN LURAMBI
In a bid to actualise Governor Barasaโs manifesto on water and sanitation by ensuring a continuous supply of clean and safe water to households, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Water, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, Ms. Peninah Mukabane, today inspected ongoing water projects in Lurambi Sub-County.
During the morning visit to Mwiyenga Primary School in Butsotso South Ward, Ms. Mukabane assessed 14 rolls of HDPE pipes earmarked for use in the rehabilitation of the Mwiyenga Community Water Project.
The rehabilitation works include the purchase of pipes and fittings, pipe laying, and excavation.
While engaging the project committee, Ms. Mukabane emphasized that upon completion of the rehabilitation works, residents of the Mwiyenga community will enjoy a reliable and steady supply of water, significantly improving access to clean and safe water at the household level.
Later in the afternoon, the CECM toured the augmentation works at the Emusala Water Project in Butsotso East Ward. The project entails bulk water harvesting and the elevation of a 50-cubic-meter steel tank at Emusala Comprehensive School.
The initiative is aimed at increasing water storage capacity to better serve the growing population of Emusala area.
Ms. Mukabane lauded the contractorโs commitment to completing the project within three months, noting that timely delivery will ensure the community benefits from improved water access.
Once the project is finalised, it’s expected to serve more than 2000 households.
Also present during the inspection were the Sub-County Administrator, Ward Administrators, and officers from the Department of Water.
