GOVERNOR BARASA GRACES IHONJE COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL AGM, ASSURES CONTINUED SUPPORT FOR EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT
H.E. Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, graced the Annual General Meeting and Prize Giving Ceremony for Ihonje Comprehensive School in Etenje Ward. He praised the school’s strong performance and emphasized the county’s support for education through the issuance of ward-based bursaries as schools reopen.
Speaking during the event, the Governor assured residents that all ward-based projects will be completed by December this year, highlighting his administration’s commitment to timely service delivery. He also announced plans to construct a modern ECDE centre at Ihonje Comprehensive School in the 2026/2027 financial year.
He said key projects in the ward are nearing completion, including Lukongo and Bukaya Healthcare Facilities, to improve access to medical services. He also revealed plans to solarise water systems at the school to ensure reliable access to clean water.
The Governor noted that over 60 ECDE projects are being implemented, with most already complete and in use. He added that ongoing road works, culvert installation, and last-mile water connectivity under the Amatsi Khumuliango programme are steadily improving livelihoods in the county.
He highlighted the tarmacking of the Mumias- Matawa–Indangasia Road to boost transport and economic activity. He also urged residents to register as voters, with the Rapid Response Initiative targeting over 200,000 youth. The Governor was accompanied by MCAs led by area MCA Hon. Eddie Obwaka, Executive Officials led by Chief Officer for Service Delivery Dr. Phitalis Masakhwe, and other local leaders.
