COUNTY AGENCIES DIRECTED TO UPHOLD PROCUREMENT LAW

Kakamega Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa has cautioned Board Members in various County Agencies against engaging in procurement matters in the entities.

Speaking at a capacity building forum for the Members of the five County Agencies, Governor Barasa stated that most of the challenges being experienced in the agencies are as a result of members involvement in procurement which breeds conflict of interest, an issue he emphasized, will not be tolerated.

He asked them to make decisions which are within the law to avoid unnecessary costly and time consuming litigations.

The Governor further called on the Agencies to submit quarterly reports on their performance to his office. They were also advised to carry out comprehensive public participation during the policy making process.

The County Agencies are: Kakamega County – Revenue Agency, Dairy Development Corporation, Investment and Development Agency and Microfinance Corporation.

Others are Kakamega County Water and Sanitation Company, Kakamega Rural Water and Sanitation Company as well as Kakamega and Mumias Municipality Boards.
