COUNTY PARTNERS WITH CPHD TO STRENGTHEN OXYGEN SERVICES IN HEALTH FACILITIES.
The County Government of Kakamega has partnered with the Centre for Public Health and Development (CPHD) under the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) to implement the Oxygen as a Service Model (O2aaS) project aimed at strengthening oxygen delivery systems in ten health facilities across the county.
The three-year project will support baseline and endline assessments, train 200 healthcare workers, strengthen oxygen equipment management and maintenance, conduct impact evaluations, and develop sustainability measures to ensure long-term success.
Speaking during the engagement, CECM for Health Services,Dr. Livingstone Imbayi, welcomed the partnership, noting that the project will enhance access to life-saving oxygen therapy and improve healthcare service delivery across the county.
Chief Officer for Public Health, Mrs. Rose Muhanda, said the initiative will build the capacity of healthcare workers and strengthen the county’s preparedness in managing respiratory and other critical health conditions.
Under the project, participating facilities will receive oxygen concentrators, pulse oximeters, portable oxygen cylinders, oxygen regulators, oxygen cylinder trolleys, and oxygen splitters. CPHD will also support oxygen utilization data collection, oxygen billing system, and equipment maintenance.
