COUNTY REVENUE AGENCY STAFF REMINDED TO UPHOLD TAXATION CANNONS
The ongoing review of the Kakamega County Revenue Agency (KCRA) Strategic Plan has been touted as a key step towards actualization of the Agency’s journey towards autonomy.
This was underscored by the Deputy County Secretary CPA Samson Otieno on Tuesday during a consultative forum to review the 2024-25 Draft Strategic Plan; attended by the Board of Directors and KCRA staff.
CPA Otieno who addressed the forum in his capacity as the Chief Officer for Economic Planning and a member of the Board encouraged revenue officers to observe the principles of taxation while on duty emphasizing the need to uphold simplicity as a tenet of taxation. In addition to being simple, the Chief Officer explained that taxation should enhance customer satisfaction both to the internal and external clients.
KCRA Board Chairperson Dr. Martin Mudambo conveyed Governor Fernandes Barasa’s commitment towards realization of independence by the Agency and challenged the stakeholders to ensure the goal is achieved. The participants also reviewed revenue mobilization and stakeholder engagement strategies among others.
