COUNTY TEAM MEETS AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECT DEVELOPER

Kakamega County Government through the Ministry of Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Areas in partnership with Pinnie Consultants Company Friday afternoon held a consultative meeting to discuss implementation of the construction of affordable Staff Houses Project.

The County Executive Commitee Member for Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Areas Hon. Robert Kundu Makhanu, termed the project a game changer in the Housing Sector in Western region and the entire Country.

The Government has done a feasibility study in all the 12 Sub-Counties in Kakamega and now decided to go for excellent and durable structures that will offer accomodation to staff and other clients.

County Secretary and Head of Public Service Madam Jacinta Aluoch Odhiambo who graced the meeting on behalf of the Governor H.E Dr. FCPA Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, thanked the members for their effort to get a clear road map of the project stating that Affordable Housing is one among important development ambitious projects the Governor envisioned in his manifesto for the people of Kakamega County.

“I am glad that our team has integrated the use of new technology and expertise that will enable us to have quality units matching the needs of stakeholders,” she said.

Ag. County Attorney Madam Vivian Mmbaka confirmed that the legal requirements have already been handled professionally and assured the developer of full support from Government and the peace loving residents.

Pinnie Consultants Company advocate Mr. Wesley Gichaba revealed to the meeting that Kakamega Housing Corperation Limited will be managing the units.

In attendance were Director of Physical Planning and Housing Mr. Stephen Chune, County Head of Supply Chain Management Mr. John Koveti and Representatives from Pinnie Consultants Company Mr. Shem Tai and Mr. Mwangi Muragi, among other Officers.
