DEVELOPMENT AND SERVICE DELIVERY AT THE HEART OF GOVERNOR BARASA’S TRANSFORMATION AGENDA.

Development and improved service delivery remain central to H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa’s administration, with investments in infrastructure, healthcare, water, markets and education advancing with renewed momentum across Kakamega County.
Speaking during a church service at New Faith Church in Shianda, Mumias East Sub-County, Governor Barasa outlined key development projects being implemented in the area and reaffirmed the County Government’s commitment to improving the lives of residents through sustained investment in priority sectors. The service was presided over by Rt. Rev. Bishop Dominic Osundwa Barasa.
In Mumias East, the Governor highlighted the ongoing construction of the recently launched Shianda Level IV Hospital, the completed maternity Unit at Makunga Level IV Hospital, Nyaporo–Petros and Indoli bridges, the upgrading of the Malaha–Khaunga Road to bitumen standards, the Shianda Market Water Project, Shibinga Market, and the construction of ECDE centres at Ebusambe and Nyaporo, among others.
Governor Barasa also highlighted ongoing collaboration between the County and National Governments in advancing major development projects in Kakamega County. These include the proposed construction and upgrading of 200 kilometres of roads to bitumen standards at a cost of KSh12 billion, completion of Bukhungu Stadium and Kakamega Level Six Hospital, as well as continued investment in Mumias Sugar Company to strengthen its operations, create opportunities and improve returns for sugarcane farmers and employees.
The Governor called for continued cooperation between the two levels of government to accelerate development, expand essential services and improve the wellbeing of residents.
Governor Barasa was accompanied by Majority Leader Hon. Philip Maina, Members of the County Assembly and Members of the County Executive, led by the CECM for Agriculture, Mr. Mophat Mandela, among other leaders.
