EID WISHES FROM GOVERNOR OPARANYA

On behalf of the residents of Kakamega County, I take this precious opportunity to wish all our Muslim Brothers and Sisters in Kenya, more so Kakamega County, Eid Mubarak. May Allah keep us together, grant us peace as we stay focused on the devolution journey.

As we celebrate together, there is a lot of development in Kakamega County to be proud of in the last three years since the inception of county governments in Kenya. Today all our 12 Sub-Counties speak of change and good governance in different sectors; Health, Agriculture, Education, Trade, Social Services and Youths, Public Service and Administration, Water, Transport and others where mwananchi can point at fruits of devolution.

The recently launched Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital in liaison with the County General Hospital, Sub-County Level 4 Hospitals and Dispensaries will go a long way in providing us quality health services and improving our economy.

In addition to the 10km Roads per Ward Projects, whose second phase begins this financial year, the next move to have 200km bitumen (tarmacked) roads into the interior parts of the county is on as road works continues on the first road – Khayega-Shinyalu Road.

I am also glad to inform us that the mechanization of Agriculture and subsidizing seeds and fertilizer in the county saw the harvest double from 16% to 32% in the first phase of the program and we expect much higher percentages in the next two months of this second phase.

These are just but a few milestones in these sectors and I know you can mention the rest with a lot of patriotism.

Eid Mubarak to you once more.

H.E Hon. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, E.G.H
