GOVERNOR BARASA AFFIRMS ODM UNITY AND CALLS FOR VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVE

Kakamega County is a stronghold of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) following the recent Special Delegates Conference held in Nairobi.
The conference ratified party leadership under Dr. Oburu Oginga and mandated him to engage like-minded parties, including United Democratic Alliance (UDA), to shape future political cooperation. Party leaders assured supporters of ODM’s continued strength in Kakamega and the wider Western region.The occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on unity and democratic values and ideals championed by ODM’s founding leader, Raila Odinga
Speaking at Udenda Comprehensive School grounds in Alego Usonga Constituency during the funeral of the late Joel Gadi Ochieng’ Ong’wen, brother to ODM Party Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen, Kakamega Governor H.E. Fernandes Barasa in his capacities as ODM County Chairman, and Chair of the ODM County Chairpersons, said cooperation between ODM leaders and the National Government is already delivering results.
He cited ongoing investments in roads, marine transport, the Standard Gauge Railway, housing, and sports infrastructure in the Lake Region Economic Bloc and across the country. The Governor expressed confidence that partnerships between ODM and other parties with shared policies will accelerate national development.
Governor Barasa also urged eligible citizens to take part in the ongoing 30-day voter registration exercise by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). He called on voters to elect leaders focused on development in a broad-based government.
Homa Bay Governor and ODM National Chairperson H.E Gladys Wanga emphasized the need for equal political partnerships. She encouraged young people to register as voters and commended Governor Barasa for his leadership in Kakamega and within the ODM County Chairpersons Caucus.
Governor Barasa conveyed condolences to the family of the late Joel Ong’wen, describing him as a champion of education and good leadership in his community.
The funeral was attended by Members of Parliament led by Alego Usonga MP Hon. Samuel Atandi, Speakers from Nairobi and Siaya counties, MCAs, and other leaders.
