GOVERNOR BARASA AND HEALTH CS MULONGO SENSITIZE RESIDENTS ON SHA

H.E. Governor Fernandes Barasa has called on residents of Kakamega County to comply with the National Government’s directive and register for the new Universal Health Coverage program, the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), which replaces the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

The Governor, who joined Cabinet Secretary for Health Dr. Deborah Mulongo at a press briefing today at Muliro Gardens in Kakamega town, urged residents to continuously register with the program to enjoy uninterrupted healthcare services in both public and private health facilities.

CS Dr. Mulongo assured Kenyans of a continuous registration exercise for the SHA program as she announced a national rollout of the new health cover. The health delegation also visited Iguhu Hospital in Ikolomani Constituency, where Dr. Mulongo confirmed a successful SHA registration exercise at the facility.

Kenyans are required to dial *147# for self-registration in the SHA program.

Also present were Dr. Meshack Ndirangu, Country Director of Amref Health Africa in Kenya, his Deputy Mr. Gilbert Wangalwa, CECM Health Dr. Benard Wesonga, County Secretary Dr. Lawrence Omuhaka, Chief Officers, and other officials.
