H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, OGW, together with family members, relatives, friends, and officials of the County Government of Kakamega, today assembled for a requiem mass in honour of his younger brother, the late Silas Oteng’o Barasa, at their ancestral home in Khabondi, East Wanga Ward, Mumias East Sub-count.
The solemn service brought together mourners from different walks of life, who paid tribute to Silas as a humble, kind-hearted, and hardworking man whose generosity and dedication to others touched many lives.
The body of the late Silas Oteng’o Barasa was transferred from Kakamega Funeral Parlour to his Manyatta residence in Mumias Town before proceeding to his Khabondi home for a body viewing and prayer service.
Eulogising his brother, Governor Barasa described Silas as a dependable and God-fearing man whose love for family, dedication to duty, and respect for others earned him widespread admiration. He said his passing had left a profound void in the family, remembering him as a pillar of strength whose counsel and companionship will be deeply missed.
The Governor noted that Silas will be remembered for his integrity, humility, and quiet commitment to service, urging family members and friends to remain united and draw strength from the values he embodied.
Silas Oteng’o Barasa will be laid to rest on Saturday at his Khabondi home in Mumias East Sub-County. A funeral service will be held earlier at Khabondi Primary School ground and is expected to bring together leaders, family members, friends, and mourners from across Kakamega County and beyond.
