GOVERNOR BARASA LEADS KAKAMEGA IN HONOURING LATE CAROLYNE KHAMETE AT REQUIEM MASS

H.E. Governor FCPA Dr. Fernandes Barasa today joined family, friends, students, and staff at Kakamega County Polytechnic for a requiem mass in honour of the late Mrs. Carolyne Khamete, whose passing has deeply saddened the County Government of Kakamega and the wider education fraternity. Her burial is scheduled for tomorrow in Ikolomani Sub-County.
Governor Barasa expressed profound sorrow over the untimely death of Mrs. Khamete, who served as Principal of Kakamega County Polytechnic until her demise. He noted that the circumstances surrounding her death are currently under police investigation.
The Governor eulogised Mrs. Khamete as a dedicated and passionate educator who joined the County Government of Kakamega in 2015. She previously served at Matioli County Polytechnic before being transferred to Kakamega County Polytechnic. Throughout her service, she demonstrated exceptional commitment to advancing technical and vocational training in the County.
Governor Barasa further highlighted her instrumental role in mentoring trainees, particularly those sponsored by the County Government in partnership with development partners. He noted that many of these students, some of whom had dropped out of the formal education system, benefited from her compassion and guidance, which helped transform their lives.
He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Ms. Khamete’s family, friends, colleagues, and students, praying for strength and comfort during this difficult time. He also prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul in eternal glory.
The Governor was accompanied by the First Lady, Prof. Janet Kassilly Barasa, Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), County Executive Committee Members, and other education stakeholders.
