GOVERNORS PLEDGE TO WORK CLOSELY FOR DEVELOPMENT

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and his Machakos counterpart Governor Alfred Mutua both have presidential ambitions in 2022 but have pledged to work closely to improve the social and economic status of ordinary citizens.

Speaking in Khayega and Shinyalu today, the two decried inordinate delays in completion of projects initiated by the national government, especially roads, adding that they will intervene to fast track them. Governor Mutua is on a two day benchmarking visit covering a wide range of projects including roads, hospitals and ECDE Centres.

He is accompanied by several CECMs, CCOs, Departmental Heads and Advisors. They visited Bukhungu stadium, Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital, Khayega Market and Shamakhubu Level 4 hospital. At Shamakhabu, they met beneficiaries of Oparanyacare programme which supports poor mothers and their babies.

H.E. the Deputy Governor Hon. Prof. Philip Kutima, Hon. Speaker of Kakamega County Assembly Hon. Morris Buluma, CECMs, CCOs, and MCAs were present.
