IKOLOMANI TEAMS READY TO RUMBLE IN GOVERNOR’S CUP TOURNEY

Two hundred and nineteen (219) teams in Ikolomani, Likuyani and Lugari Sub-Counties are set to begin their 2023 Governor’s Cup campaign this weekend, 16th September 2023 with preliminary matches.

Fifty five (55) teams in the four Wards of Ikolomani Sub-County today, Tuesday, received their playing kits at their respective Ward offices, an exercise that was overseen by Mr Godfrey Lumumba, on behalf of the CECM for Social Services, Sports, Youth, Gender and Culture Mr Mophat Mandela.

According to Mr Lumumba who was flanked by County Administrators together with Officers from the Department of Sports, Lugari and Likuyani will receive kits on Wednesday and Thursday respectively setting the stage for exhilarating group stage matches in the three Sub-Counties.

Mr Lumumba implored teams to exercise high levels of discipline in observance of the tournament’s laid down rules and regulations to the letter to avoid appeals from aggrieved opponents or/and disqualification by the organizers.

The Sub-County’s tournament coordinator Dr Anjeline Savala lauded the levels of transparency in the Ministry terming it a key recipe to the success of Governor Fernandes Barasa’s Social Development agenda that seeks, among others, to facilitate events that showcase and open opportunities for sportsmen and women in the County to the outside world.
