KAKAMEGA HOSTS KENYATTA INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE (KICC) MANAGEMENT DELEGATION

The Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) management has expressed interest in partnering with the County Government of Kakamega in promoting Meetings, Incentives travels, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE). The CECM for Finance, Planning, ICT, E-government and Communication CPA Livingstone Imbayi, flanked by his Trade, Industrialization and Tourism counterpart Ms Rachel Atamba, on Monday expressed the County’s willingness to collaborate with KICC to optimise on opportunities the brand guarantees with regard to promotion of business events tourism. The collaboration he said, will go a long way in promoting Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (M.I.C.E) tourism to foster socio-economic and cultural activities in Kakamega County.

CPA Imbayi disclosed that both the County and KICC teams are developing a roadmap which will lead to signing of an MoU on collaboration and partnership; highlighting possible ways of promoting and developing business events tourism in the County. The County will also benefit from training of staff and bidding to host events and conferences.

Through the Kakamega County Investment Development Agency (KCIDA), the County is in the process of onboarding a partner to construct and operationalize a conference centre in Kakamega Municipality, impacting on actualization of Governor Fernandes Barasa’s wealth creation agenda for the residents.

The meeting was also attended by the Chief Officer for Tourism Mr Saxon Kweyu, KCIDA CEO Ms Elizabeth Asichi and Director for Tourism Mr Stephen Musee among others.
