KAKAMEGA TO DIGITIZE KEY SERVICES ~ GOVERNOR OPARANYA
Kakamega Governor H.E FCPA Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya has revealed plans to digitize other key services in the Agriculture and Health sectors as well Finance and Administration departments.
The Governor was speaking during a meeting with Safaricom CEO Mr Peter Ndegwa where he said his administration will digitize the farm inputs subsidy program, health records and OparanyaCare, a maternal health program. The County has already digitized revenue collection.
He said Kakamega County will be partnering with Safaricom to implement the programmes and asked the mobile network operator to improve their network coverage and internet connectivity in the County to boost communication.
The County boss said that the county will also be seeking partnership with the company to provide affordable phones to Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) and chairmen of village councils. Kakamega has a functional Public Service and Administration structure upto the village level.
Mr Ndegwa assured the Governor that his company will work with the County Government to improve on service delivery by providing effective internet connectivity in the County.
He also noted that Safaricom will support the County to develop systems to enhance digital services.
“We will continue working in partnership with the County Government to initiate several projects. We promise to improve communication network and internet connectivity in the County,” he said.
