KHAYEGA MODERN KIOSKS AND VIREMBE ABLUTION BLOCK COMMISSIONED

The CECM for Trade, Industrialization and Tourism, Mr. Godfrey Owori commissioned the Virembe Market Ablution Block in Shinyalu Sub-County on Saturday, in actualization of H.E FCPA Governor Fernandes Barasa’s wealth creation pillar.

The CECM officially handed over the facility to the market management committee and urged them to ensure its proper operations and maintenance. The ablution block is expected to provide a clean and conducive working environment for traders at the market.

The team also visited Khayega Modern Market, where they handed over newly constructed modern kiosks designed to spur business growth. The CECM was accompanied by the Chief Officer for Trade, Ms. Faith Gitira, who noted that the operationalization of the modern kiosks will significantly boost and expand business activities within the market.

In addition, the team inspected the ongoing construction of Bungasi Modern Market in Mumias West, which is currently 70% complete. Once completed, the market will accommodate over 250 traders, enhancing trade and economic opportunities in the region.

These initiatives form part of Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa’s Wealth Creation agenda, which focuses on empowering small-scale traders, improving market infrastructure, and promoting sustainable livelihoods through modernized trading spaces across the county.
