KISIP TEAM INSPECTS PROJECTS IMPLEMENTATION SITES

Officials from the Kenya Informal settlements Project (KISIP 2) led by Ms. Zenah Kurui today, Thursday, inspected selected sites for implementation of projects under KISIP2; an initiative that intends to support communities in informal settlements in Kakamega and Mumias municipalities dubbed Community Development Plans (CDPs)
The visiting delegation was received by the CECM for Lands, Housing Urban areas and Physical Planning Ms. Angela Silima who called on the project coordinator to ensure implementation of the project benefits the community as envisioned.
Ms. Silima further appreciated KISIP2; a World Bank funded project for remarkably uplifting livelihoods in informal settlements and assured them of full support from the county government. The project mirrors Governor Fernandes Barasa’s infrastructure development agenda and targets to improve living conditions in Amalemba and Kambi Somali informal settlements in Kakamega municipality as well as Mjini, Lukoye and Shibale in Mumias Municipality.
Through an implementing partner, the project will implement the CDPs with funding from European Union through Agence Francaise de Development (AFD). The projects component includes roads tarmacking, drainage and street lighting.
