NATIONAL ASSEMBLY SPORTS COMMITTEE MEMBERS INSPECT BUKHUNGU STADIUM

A delegation from the National Assembly Sports Committee on Friday inspected the ongoing construction works at Bukhungu stadium, as preparations for the 2027 AFCON tournament gather momentum.
Roads, Energy and Public Works CECM Arch. Patrick Kundu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering the project within the stipulated completion timelines – December 2026.
His Social Services, Sports, Youths, Gender and Culture counterpart Ms Jackline Masicha on her part said the facility has a seating capacity of 40,000 people once complete, positioning it as a key host venue for major national and continental events.
Chairperson of the National Assembly Committee on Sports, Hon. Dan Wanyama, commended the two levels of Government for the accelerated pace of construction.
The project underscores the County’s strategic investment in sports infrastructure as a driver of economic growth, youth empowerment and talent development.
Present were Chief Officers; Mr. Lawrence Mukoyani (Youths and Sports) and Mr. Pascal Were (Public Works).
