ROTARY FOUNDATION TEAM PAYS COURTESY CALL TO GOVERNOR BARASA

A team from the Rotary Foundation, led by Dr. Adeyami Oladokun of Nigeria, today paid a courtesy call on H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, OGW, at the County Headquarters to review the progress and impact of the Craig Memorial Enyapora Health Centre in Mumias West Sub-County.

Located in Mumias Central Ward, the facility was jointly initiated by the Rotary Club of Busia and Rotary Club of North Platte, USA, in partnership with the County Government of Kakamega, with the support of the Rotary Club of Kakamega. It was commissioned by Governor Barasa on 27 January 2026 after refurbishment, equipping and furnishing, following which the County Government took over its operations and deployed medical personnel. Governor Barasa said additional staff would be deployed as demand for health services continues to grow.

Governor Barasa appreciated the Rotary Foundation for its partnership, noting that the collaboration had transformed the once-stalled facility into a functional health centre serving residents of Mumias and neighbouring areas.

The facility also hosts a Resource Centre that supports practical training for Nursing and Optometry students from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), strengthening the connection between healthcare delivery, training and research.

Governor Barasa said the County Government would continue pursuing strategic partnerships to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and expand access to quality, affordable and accessible health services.

Also present were CECM for Health Dr. Livingstone Imbayi, Chief Officers Dr. David Alila and Rose Muhanda, and other senior officials from the County Government, Rotary Foundation, MMUST, and partner organisations.
