SHANDEREMA TO FACE ST. JOSEPH’S BOYS IN CITAM FINAL AT BUKHUNGU

The CITAM Mega Gospel Tournament has reached its climax, with Shanderema set to face St. Joseph’s Boys in the final scheduled for tomorrow at Bukhungu Stadium. The highly competitive championship has brought together secondary schools from across the Western, Rift Valley, and Nyanza regions, providing a platform for nurturing young talent while promoting discipline, teamwork, and character development among learners.
Shanderema booked their place in the final after an impressive run marked by consistent performances throughout the tournament. Their campaign included a commanding 2–0 victory over St. Joseph’s Boys in earlier fixtures and a narrow 1–0 win against St. Paul’s Emulakha. The team has stood out for its tactical discipline, balanced gameplay, and strong defensive organization, establishing itself as a formidable title contender.
St. Joseph’s Boys advanced to the final following a resilient and determined campaign, highlighted by a crucial 1–0 victory over Kisumu Boys in the classification stages. Despite earlier setbacks, the team has demonstrated remarkable recovery and fighting spirit, earning another opportunity to challenge for the championship. Their progression underscores the competitive depth and high standards evident among participating schools.
Organized by Christ Is The Answer Ministries (CITAM) in partnership with the County Government of Kakamega through the Department of Sports, the tournament continues to play a key role in youth empowerment and talent development. The initiative aligns with Governor Fernandes Barasa’s broader agenda of strengthening sports infrastructure and promoting grassroots talent identification, as Kakamega continues to position itself as a regional hub for sporting excellence.
The event was graced by the County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) for Social Services, Youth, Sports, Gender, Culture and Library Services, Ms. Jackline Masicha, and her counterpart in the Department of Education, Dr. Bernard Amwayi, alongside other senior county officials.
