SILUNGAI-CHIMOI WATER PROJECT TO UNDERGO REHABILITATION
Plans are underway to rehabilitate the Silungai-Chimoi Water Project in Lwandeti Ward, Lugari sub-county in a bid to actualize Governor Fernandes Barasaβs water and sanitation agenda.
The Chief Officer for Water and Sanitation Dr. Mariam Were on Wednesday led departmental technical officers and representatives from the Kakamega County Water and Sanitation Company (KACWASCO) on an inspection tour of the infrastructure ahead of commencement of the rehabilitation works which will involve repairs to the Conventional Filtration Unit (CFU) and pump house, cleaning of water storage tanks, repair of distribution pipelines and installation of new solar panels for backwashing.
The initiative is expected to restore the projectβs operations and improve access to safe and reliable water for residents once completed, after which it will be handed over to KACWASCO for management to ensure sustainability.
Present were KACWASCO Managing Director CPA Charles Tungβa and Director of Water and Sanitation as well as the Ag. Director for KACRUWASCO, Eng Fred Atwa.
