STAKEHOLDERS DISCUSS WAYS OF IMPROVING HEALTHCARE IN KAKAMEGA

The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health Services Dr. Benard Wesonga on Thursday led key stakeholders in the health sector in reviewing performance of the Service Delivery Redesign (SDR) in Kakamega County.

The meeting that was also attended by other Senior County Officers, the County Health Management Team (CHMT) and key partners in the sector led by Jacaranda Health also discussed the important Facility Improvement Fund (FIF) which targets retention of revenue generated by health facilities to sustain and improve quality of health care services.

Service Delivery Redesign dubbed _Tutunze Kakamega_, is a cross-sectoral strategy led by Kakamega County that tests improvement of maternal and newborn survival by shifting where and when mothers access care.

The stakeholders highlighted Human Resource, unavailability of pharmaceuticals and non-pharms as well as lack of implementation of the Kakamega Health Fund as the gaps hindering provision of quality health care in the County.
