THE INAUGURAL KENYA URBAN FORUM 2023 KICKS OFF

H.E President William Ruto today, Wednesday, officially opened the inaugural Kenya Urban Forum (KUF) 2023 at Lake Naivasha Resort in Naivasha Municipality, Nakuru County.

The forum dubbed “The Future is Urban” runs from 14th to 16th June 2023 and seeks to forge strategic pathways to inclusive and sustainable Urbanisation in Kenya.

Kakamega County’s administration under the able leadership of H.E FCPA Governor Fernandes Barasa is keen on urbanising major Urban centres to Municipalities. Already the County Government through the Department of Lands, Housing, Urban Development and Physical Planning has kicked off the process of facilitating the elevation of Kakamega Municipality to a City. Key projects in urban housing, infrastructure, governance, Urban resilience and climate change among others have also been set up to ensure the process is seamless.

The KUF has provided a critical platform for key stakeholders across the country and beyond to deliberate on the Urbanisation agenda.

Present are the In-charge CECM Dr Mariam Barasa, Chief Officers; Ms Faith Gitira (Housing and Urban Development), CPA David Kulova (Lands Administration, Survey and Physical Planning) CPA Samson Otieno (Economic Planning and Investment), Mr. Pascal Were (Public Works) and Eng. Philip Otenyo (Roads and Energy).

Also present is KCIDA CEO Ms Elizabeth Asichi, Directors; Millicent Cherotich (Urban Development) Dr Cyrus Ondari (Economic Planning) as well as Kakamega and Mumias Municipal Managers among other Senior Government officers.
