Kakamega County Water and Sanitation Chief Officer, Ms. Mariam Were, has instructed the Acting Managing Director of KACRUWASCO, Mr. Fred Atwa, to oversee the completion of the Mulwanda Water Project in Khwisero Sub-County. This includes planning a public participation event for the project handover to KACRUWASCO for sustainable management.

Ms. Mariam Were emphasized the urgency of the situation during this visit, pushing the project’s contractor to complete remaining tasks and test the water lines within the next two weeks.

The Project, initially a Community-managed initiative had faced a three-year stall but recent progress has seen it converted to a solar-powered system, with a new pump and extended pipeline reaching the local market, dispensary, and police station. This expansion will benefit an additional 130 households in line with Governor Barasa’s “Amatsi Khumuliango” clarion call.
