The County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP) in Likuyani continues to take shape under the leadership of H.E. Governor Dr. FCPA Fernandes Barasa, OGW, as part of a strategic partnership between the County Government of Kakamega and the National Government through the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry.
The KSh 500 million project is a joint investment, with the County Government injecting KSh 250 million and the National Government matching with KSh 250 million. This strong co-funding model demonstrates Governor Barasaβs commitment to leveraging intergovernmental collaboration to accelerate industrial growth and unlock economic opportunities for residents.
A delegation from the State Department for Industry, led by Director ICT Mr. Jackson Makewa, conducted a monitoring visit and held consultative discussions with County officials before inspecting the County Aggregation Industrial Warehouse in Sinoko Ward, Likuyani Sub-County.
Speaking during the visit, CECM for Trade, Industrialization and Tourism, Mr. Godfrey Owori, reiterated that Governor Barasaβs administration is prioritising industrial infrastructure as a catalyst for value addition, job creation, and wealth generation. He emphasized that the project is a key pillar of the Governorβs economic transformation agenda aimed at boosting local production and strengthening market linkages.
Governor Barasa has directed that works be expedited to ensure timely completion, so that wananchi can begin to realise tangible returns from this significant public investment.
Also present were Chief Officers Faith Gitira (Weights and Measures), Saxon Kweyu (Tourism), Pascal Were (Public Works), Mercy Muchiri (ODP-IBEC), Architect Anthony Ekajul (Public Works), and CEO of the Kakamega County Investment Development Agency, Ms. Elizabeth Asichi, among other senior officials.
