The County government has continued its efforts to boosting poultry farming by distributing 3,500 day-old chicks to self-help groups across the county under the Kenya Livestock Commercialization Project (KelCoP).

The initiative, flagged of by Livestock Chief Ms. Jessica Weku at KALRO, aims to enhance livelihoods and strengthen food security in alignment with Governor Barasa’s food security agenda.

Distribution breakdown:

📍 Butere

– Mulembe Women Group – 800 chicks

– Burebe SHG – 330 additional chicks

📍 Khwisero

– Umoja ni Nguvu SHG – 800 chicks

– Holistic Women Group – 400 chicks

📍 Lugari

– Mulimani Farmers Welfare Group – 800 chicks

– Amute SHG – 350 chicks
