𝐆𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐎𝐑 𝐁𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐀 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐒 𝐊𝐒𝐇𝟒 𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐎 𝐈𝐊𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐈 𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐏𝐒 𝐀𝐒 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐒 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌𝐌𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐒

H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, OGW, has concluded the countywide disbursement of Social Protection Grants Programme with the release of KSh4 million to 80 community groups in Ikolomani Sub-County, at the Assistant County Commissioner’s Office grounds in Iguhu.

The beneficiaries were drawn from the four wards of Idakho South, Idakho Central, Idakho East and Idakho North, with each ward receiving KSh1 million to support 20 groups. The beneficiaries include women, youth, persons with disabilities, widows and other vulnerable members of the community.

The Ikolomani disbursement marks the 12th and final phase of the programme, bringing the total amount distributed by the County Government to KSh60 million for 1,200 groups across all 60 wards of Kakamega County.

In his address, Governor Barasa urged the beneficiary groups to invest the funds in productive ventures that can generate income, strengthen their enterprises and improve livelihoods.

The Governor also outlined key County projects being implemented in Ikolomani, including the construction of ECDE centres at Shichinji, Shitoli and Irechelo; the completed theatre and planned maternity wing at Iguhu Level IV Hospital; Lidambitsa Modern Market awaiting commissioning; and ongoing improvements in water services. He said road maintenance across Ikolomani would be expanded with a target of covering 15 kilometres in each ward.

Governor Barasa was accompanied by Members of the County Assembly led by Majority Leader Hon. Philip Maina and the area MCA Hon. Silas Shiyenzi, members of the County Executive led by CECM for Social Services, CPA Jackline Masicha and the host, Dr. Livingston Imbayi of Health Services, among other leaders.
