H.E. Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa today graced a fundraising event at Shirugu Mosque in Shirugu Muigai Ward, Malava Sub-County. The event was held to support the construction of an Islamic Centre and a madrasa. The project will support faith-based education and provide a safe place for learning, worship, and community activities. The Governor also represented President William Ruto at the fundraiser.
While addressing residents and leaders, Governor Barasa said it is important to support both mosques and churches. He noted that faith institutions help build good morals and promote unity in society. He said the County Government will continue working with all religious groups to promote peace and shared values.
The Governor also spoke about key development projects being implemented by the County Government in partnership with the National Government. These include the completion of Bukhungu International Stadium and Kakamega Level 6 Hospital. Others are the upgrading of Kakamega Airstrip and the affordable housing programme. He said these projects will improve services, create jobs, and grow the local economy.
The event was attended by the Presidentโ€™s Aide, Mr. Farouk Kibet; Malava MP Hon. David Ndakwa; Suna East MP Hon. Junet Mohamed; Dadaab MP Hon. Farah Maalim; Mbalambala MP Hon. Shurie Abdi a d Lurambi MP Hon. Titus Khamala, MCAs, among other distinguished guests.
