H.E. Governor FCPA Dr. Fernandes Barasa today visited Butere Level 4 Hospital to assess service delivery following its recent commissioning and to inspect major infrastructural and service upgrades that are transforming the facility into a regional referral hub.
During the visit, the Governor toured an ultra-modern hospital block equipped with a fully functional casualty unit, outpatient services, a maternity wing, a modern laboratory, and a state-of-the-art imaging department offering digital X-ray and digital ultrasound services. A CT scan has also been installed and is awaiting final testing and commissioning.
The facility now features two fully equipped operation theatres with modern surgical equipment, a 48-bed maternity wing complete with a Kangaroo Mother Care unit, a newborn unit, a maternity theatre, and a 76-bed inpatient ward serving male, female, and pediatric patients.
To further strengthen service delivery, the County Government has ensured an uninterrupted supply of medicines and medical supplies through FIF, alongside adequate staffing. The hospital currently has four consultants, a general surgeon, orthopedic surgeon, physician, and radiologist, significantly improving access to specialized healthcare services for residents of Butere and neighboring sub-counties.
Governor Barasa noted that the upgrades align with his administrationโs development agenda of strengthening healthcare systems, reducing referrals to distant facilities, and ensuring residents access quality, affordable healthcare closer to home.
The Governor was accompanied by MCAs and members of the executive led by CS Dr Lawrence Omuhaka and CECM Health Dr. Livingstone Imbayi.
