Devolution has played a key role in the education sector, owing to the improved infrastructure witnessed in academic institutions.
H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa attended the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and elections of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Lugari branch, where he pledged to increase funding to the Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) and vocational education sectors in the County.
In this financial year, the Governor revealed that the County has upgraded over 60 ECDE centres across the wards each with two classrooms, a store, an office, a toilet and a water tank. Lugari and Likuyani Sub-counties have over 20 of such centres constructed so far.
In attendance were the Area MP Hon Nabii Nabwera, KNUT leadership led by the western region chairman Mr. Patrick Chungani, CECM in charge Education, Science and Technology Dr. Bonface Okoth, Chief Officers Doreen Amwoga, Phanuel Musasia, Chief of Staff Mr. Kassim Were, Ombudsman, Advisors, among others.
