Mashujaa Day is a day to honour and pay tribute to both the historical and contemporary heroes and heroines of Kenya who have contributed significantly to the country’s progress, freedom, and well-being.

Among the contemporary heroes and heroines, are the selfless Kenyans who led the charge in the democratization struggles that spanned from the 1990s to 2010, ultimately resulting in the enactment of the 2010 Constitution, a key moment that ushered in the era of Devolution.

H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa spearheaded the 60th Mashujaa Day celebrations under the theme “UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE,” where he launched 4,000 kits for Community Health Promoters (CHPs). These essential tools will assist them in their daily tasks as they serve individuals in need of primary healthcare services.

In his speech, the Governor provided reassurance to Kakamega residents, confirming the procurement of subsidized fertilizer and seeds valued at over Ksh. 700 million, which will be available by January. He also disclosed that the ward-flagship projects are set to commence within the next month, with contractors sourced from respective wards.

Present were the Kakamega First Lady Prof. Janet Kassily Barasa, Deputy Governor Hon. Ayub Savula, Acting County Commissioner Mr. Ngalia Ndaya, MPs Nabii Nabwera and Innocent Mugabe, MCAs led by the Speaker Rt. Hon James Namatsi, County Executive led by Public Service and Administration CEC Mr. Godfrey Owori and Mwananchi.
