SPORTS CECM GRACES LUGARI SOCCER TOURNAMENT

The County Executive Committee Member for Social Services, Sports, Youth, Gender, Culture and Library Services Mr Mophat Mandela on Wednesday represented H.E FCPA Governor Fernandes Barasa at the Lugari NG-CDF soccer tournament finals at Matete grounds, Lugari Sub-County where he thanked the organizer and host Member of Parliament Hon. Nabii Nabwera for investing in the future of the young people through grass root talent tapping and nurturing.

Mr Mandela affirmed that being a renown hotbed for talents, Governor Barasa’s administration is committed to supporting sports in the County as witnessed in the inaugural Governor’s Cup Football Bonanza early this year and invited interested partners to join hands with the County in identifying and developing raw talents in Kakamega.

County Women Representative. Hon Elsie Muhanda who was present thanked the organizer of the fete saying it has kept the minds of the youth, mostly school going students, occupied during the long holidays.

Sirisia legislator Hon. John Waluke stressed the need for the region to work together through sports to foster development aimed at improving the living room of the residents, sentiments that were echoed by his Likuyani counterpart Hon. Innocent Mugabe.

The host MP Hon. Nabii lauded partners among them the County Government for rehabilitating Matete Sports grounds and called for cooperation among stakeholders to realise development for the benefit of the residents.

Chekalini and Greenland FC were crowned champions in the female and male categories respectively.
