KAKAMEGA COUNTY 2023 WINGS TO FLY BENEFICIARIES FLAGGED OFF

The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Godfrey Owuori, on Wednesday joined stakeholders in the Education sector during the flag off ceremony of Kakamega County 2023 Wings to Fly Comprehensive Secondary School Scholarship Program at Equity Bank, Kakamega.

Mr Owuori thanked the financial institution for rolling out of the initiative which he agreed has transformed the lives of many needy and deserving residents; and urged the beneficiaries to leverage on the opportunity to achieve their academic and lifetime dreams.

The CECM observed that the County Government has as well initiated related programmes mentioning the County bursary advanced through the Ward Administrators office in cooperation with the Members of County Assembly as key in assisting needy and bright learners.

Mrs Leah Khasandi, Chief Officer for Education, Science and Technology congratulated the beneficiaries following their selection imploring them to work smart and make their families and County as a whole proud at their respective learning stations.

The Manager Equity Bank Kakamega Branch, Mr Peter Akoyo on his part thanked the Ministry of Education, the Community Scholarship Selection Board, the County Government and other partners for their tremendous support in making the 2023 Wings to Fly scholarship a success. He assured that the scholars will be provided with the necessary support required to facilitate their learning and revealed that they will have an opportunity to seek for an employment stint with Equity Bank upon completion of their studies.

A total of 8 beneficiaries now proceed to Nairobi to join others for a three day induction workshop at Pangani Girls High School.
