Golden boot contestant Ken Wandiri opened the scores for Kakamega with a superbly curled shot into top left corner of the goal after combining well with veteran striker Alloyce Maingi. Despite a slow start in the early minutes of the game, captain Sam Anyova found his scoring boot back, unleashing a thunderous shot into the net for a respectable 2-0 full time score.

Tactician Hesborne Nyabinge’s charges have netted 21 goals in 5 matches played so far and only conceded once. The team boasts of an experienced technical bench in former Kenyan internationals Anthony Okumu and Allan Wanga as well as the illustrious team manager Elvis Kaiga.

Kakamega tuggers, the defending champions, trounced favourites Nairobi County 2-0 to advance to the ladies tug of war finals where they will renew their rivalry with Kisii County who defeated Busia in the other semifinal.

Volleyball Ladies captained by Mercy Luvayo put up a brave fight to beat Busia by 3 sets to One in the first quarter final of the day and will now square it out with Nairobi County in the semis.

Mombasa ladies ended Kakamega’s fine run in netball with a 28-18 win marking the end of the road for the golden green ladies.

County Executive Committee Member for Social Services, Sports, Youth, Gender, Culture and Library Services Mr Mophat Mandela who witnessed the 2-0 demolition of Nairobi County, together with other Senior County officers, challenged the team to come back home with the trophy.
