Governor Barasa Rolls Out Free Fertiliser and Seed Distribution in Mumias West

H.E. Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa today launched the distribution of free fertiliser and maize seeds targeting widows, low-income families, women, and Persons with Disabilities in Mumias West Sub-county.

In his address, Governor Barasa announced that his administration has reached an agreement with the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) to enhance last-mile delivery of fertiliser—starting at the sub-county level this year and extending to the ward level next year—ensuring improved access for our farmers.

Governor Barasa emphasized his government’s commitment to boosting food production across Kakamega County by empowering 283,000 small-scale farmers in all 60 wards.

Present at the event held at the Sub-county Agricultural Office were Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) led by the host, Hon. Ali Okomba, and County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) led by Agriculture CECM Mophat Mandela.
