KAKAMEGA COUNTY COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES HIGHLIGHTED AT FLLoCA FORUM

Kakamega County’s strategic communication efforts in promoting the Financially Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) program took center stage on Tuesday during an ongoing workshop for communication practitioners from across the country.

Speaking at the forum, Kakamega County Director for Public Communications Mr. Sumba Juma, underscored the county’s use of electronic, print and social media platforms, alongside community Barazas, as effective tools in fostering public engagement and transparency in climate-related development efforts.

Mr. Juma credited the county’s communication success to the participatory governance model driven by Governor Fernandes Barasa’s administration, under the Good Governance agenda, which emphasizes inclusivity and resilience in addressing climate change.

The workshop organized by the National Treasury in partnership with County Governments is aimed at building the capacity of county communication officers and planners on strategic communication to enhance the visibility and impact of FLLoCA programs within devolved units.

Kakamega’s FLLoCA initiatives span the Water, Environment and Climate Change, Agriculture, and Health sectorsβ€”each playing a crucial role in advancing sustainable, climate-resilient development at the grassroots.
