This morning, H.E. FCPA Fernandes Barasa presided over the official opening ceremony of the Kakamega County Interdepartmental Sports Competition at Bukhungu Stadium.
The three-day event brings together county staff from various departments to promote teamwork, unity, and motivation among public servants, the frontline soldiers in service delivery.
In his remarks, Governor Barasa emphasized that the games are an important platform for strengthening collaboration within the countyโ€™s workforce, noting that a cohesive and inspired team is vital to achieving effective service delivery.
The competition also serves as a build-up to the Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) Games to be held later this month in Siaya County, where Kakamega County will showcase its sporting talent and strong team spirit.
The initiative reflects Governor Barasaโ€™s development agenda on institutional efficiency, staff welfare, and people-centered governance.
