WESTERN KENYA ECONOMIC REVIVAL GAINS MOMENTUM UNDER PRESIDENT RUTO

Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, OGW, has reaffirmed the Western region’s commitment to working with President William Ruto under the Broad-Based Government arrangement, citing ongoing development and investments across the region.
Governor Barasa made the remarks during President Ruto’s working visit to Nzoia Sugar Company in Bungoma County, where he joined the President to assess the operations and progress in the ongoing revival of the miller.
“All four Governors of Western Kenya have agreed to work with President William Ruto under the Broad-Based Government arrangement because of the development taking place across the region. Western Kenya will deliver over 4 million votes to President William Ruto,” Governor Barasa said.
The President’s support for the revival of sugar millers across Western Kenya, including Mumias Sugar Company, is an important step towards restoring the region’s sugar industry, supporting farmers and strengthening the local economy.
During the visit, President Ruto also presided over the groundbreaking of the Bukembe–Nzoia–Sang’alo Road, a critical link expected to strengthen connectivity and facilitate the movement of sugarcane and other goods to and from the miller.
Governor Barasa welcomed the continued investment in the revival of Western Kenya’s productive economy and infrastructure, noting that the interventions in the sugar sector and road network will create new opportunities for farmers, traders and businesses across the region.
Also present were Bungoma Governor H.E. Kenneth Lusaka, MPs, MCAs and other stakeholders.
