LUGALA ECDE SET FOR COMPLETION AS COUNTY HANDS PROJECT TO NEW CONTRACTOR
The County Government has announced that the Lugala ECDE project will be handed over to a new contractor next week following the termination of the previous one, paving the way for the long-delayed works to resume and move toward completion.
In the same breath, the County confirmed that the long-stalled Shamakhubu Hospital project is finally back on course after the site was officially handed over to ELDOFAB Engineering. The hospital, whose construction began in 2015, has remained incomplete for years, denying the community an essential health facility.
These announcements were made by Dr. Benard Amwayi, CECM for Education, who represented Governor Fernandes Barasa at engagements held at both the African Church of the Holy Spirit headquarters and Mukangu Catholic Church in Isukha Central, Shinyalu Sub-county, during a weeklong seminar for the faithful.
Dr. Amwayi reaffirmed the County’s commitment to complete all stalled projects, noting that the revival of Lugala ECDE and Shamakhubu Hospital demonstrates Governor Barasa’s determination to strengthen education, health, and overall community development.
He further announced that the County Bursary Fund disbursement is scheduled for January, explaining that the delay stemmed from a court case between governors and the national government, which has since been resolved.
Chief Officer for Trade, Ms. Faith Gitira, urged Shinyalu residents to rally behind Governor Barasa in 2027, emphasizing that a second term would allow him to fully deliver on his transformative development agenda.
Also present at the event was Dr. Brian Lishenga.
